Huddersfield Giants lost out 30-16 at Leigh Sports Village in Round 9 of the Betfred Super League.

Interim Head Coach Liam Finn welcomed back Harry Rushton into his match day squad for the first time since the opening round, he took his place in the back row.

Leigh opened the scoring in controversial circumstances, what looked like a knock-on saw the ball moved left to Towse who crossed, it was sent to the video-ref as no try but was then overturned to the amazement of the crowd.

We hit back soon after though, with a try from the prolific Adam Swift who crossed in the corner, 4-4 the scores stood.

Leigh then scored a quick-fire double through former Giant Senior and Towse with his second of the game, taking the match away from Huddersfield, as our right edge was exposed.

Asher O'Donnell then crashed over, but the try was sent up as no-try but clearly luck wasn't on our side, as the infringement was spotted this time and the try was ruled out.

Another Leigh try then came through Lam, supporting a break down the centre of the field and this was awarded as a penalty try.

There was momentary rest bite for the Giants, with Taane Milne crashing over after Evalds and Clune punched a hole in the Leopards defence, 20-10 the scores stood at half-time with the Giants well in it.

Liam Finn's side had numerous chances to reduce the arrears at the start of the second half, but we couldn't find our way over, Tristan Powell coming mighty close with a short range effort.

Leigh would re-introduce Ipape to the game to try and get them on the front foot, and it worked as a penalty saw the home side charge up the field and Charnley cross in the corner.

The game was sealed when the winger scored his second soon after, condeming the Giants to another defeat.

Smart play with seconds left saw Swift race away, supported by Gagai who crossed for a consolation and kept up his impressive run of scoring, 30-16 and that was to be that as the Giants leave Leigh empty handed and suffer their second defeat.
